90 Day challenge
After undergoing an intensive 90 day Fitness Challenge my mate in Texas, Mark Moore, has decided to go on a 90 day Spiritual Fitness Challenge – through reading the Bible in its entirety over the next 90 days – from July 1.? An hour or day should do it. Checkout his post here
Anyone up for the challenge?? I look back over the past 15 years of my life and I recall reading the Bible through six or seven times in a four year period – then the law of diminishing returns kicked in as I spent time doing “ministry”, having kids, etc etc.? At the same time however I have noticed another law at work which saw me fall into the trap of becoming “professional” about the Bible and how and when I use it.? ? I find that distinctly unsatisfying, never mind dangerous.
So – although I realise I have become physically flabby over the past few years (40 years of age and all that) i fear the spiritual flabbiness that would have me reading about and writing about the Bible for articles and talks, without spending a whole lot of time reading it, could well be setting in.
Besides, what will I be missing over the next 90 days?? Well if the last 90 days are any indication – probably 90 hours of TV.? Anyone care to join me or at least keep me accountable?

When are you planning to kick off your 90 days?

Hi Rod
tomorrow – July 1st. Apparently it’s the start of the new tax year.

Steve,
What’s your reading plan? I must admit I didn’t leap for joy when I read Mark’s post, but your enthuisiam has convicted me somewhat. A book a day would take 66 days, I think I would have to take Isaiah in 3 bites. Would I be allowed a day off after lamentations (just to greive)? I bet you can’t wait for the easy stretch at the end after the pastoral epistles when its just a page a day!!

Reading plan was to start at the start and work my way to the finish! I’ve just done the first 25 chapters of Genesis, but needed half an hour this morning and half an hour instead of the 7pm news. I figured I wanted to get the story as it happens – though that will involve a bit of negotiation with the prophets in order to keep them apace with the historical events. I might leave the Wisdom lit until the end of the OT
