You know something has gone wrong when a member of Royalty turns up in your city for a bit of a tour. Prince Charles was in town yesterday, bemoaning the floods that have devestated huge parts of this place.

It’s been a strange week in the UK; floods in Sheffield; a new Prime Minister; and two car bombs found in London that would have killed scores if not hundreds. At the moment we feel like a long long way away from Perth.

Summer in the City is just a week away and we’re still hoping that we get some summer to have in the city.SITCis looking at some contingency plans should the rain start falling again – one of them being that we will help out with the flood clean-ups. Some of our teams are going to be doing that anyway, so please pray that we get the opportunity to demonstrate God’s love in deed and word to those who have been inundated.

Still there is plenty to look forward to during the week of mission. Our household congregation is involved in a number of local festivals, playing music and conducting questionnaires, while we are running the very successful jazz-cafe for a week. I’m conducting a seminar-series for the 62 people taking part in SITC – How to Reach a Post-Christian World- so looking forward to that. We’ve also got a young friend from Perth – Alan – coming to stay with us to help at SITC. He travels on Wednesday so would appreciate some prayer. No doubt he’s been watching the forecast and then the news and wondering what he’s getting himself in for.
